A reason to love being an adult: beginning a holiday with lasagna, salad, and half a glass of white wine.


Granted, I'll be putting in 8-10 hours at easel and keyboard before I call it a night, but hey, I got to sleep in! And it wasn't perishing cold when the girl and I went outside to deal with a few chores.



Because I don't have to drive anywhere today, the sound of sleet steadily hitting frozen leaves and berries was actually pretty cool. Plus, some of those branches have serious attitude:






This fall and winter, the sounds of a house being built across the street have filled many weekdays and most Saturdays. But not today:
