During my Fall 2011 sabbatical, the BYM moved most of my books to the basement, with a plan to convert our dining room into my study. What with this, that, and some other things, the walls weren't repaired until I was away on my Fall 2012 road trip.
I didn't know that was finally happening, nor did I know about the BYM painting those walls while he was doing so. So it was a lovely surprise to come home to the room, with my books back upstairs and the walls the beautiful, rich blue I'd chosen.
That was over a month ago. I'm still reassessing and reorganizing my things (many of those books are relics of my former lives, and it's time for them to find their new people), but seeing the walls makes me deeply happy every time I step into the room.
