There are a couple dozen or so tiny plaques surrounding the trees on the sidewalk on Georgia Street in Vancouver, starting eastward c. Howe Street.



Some have faded to the point of unreadability, while others have been afflicted with city shmutz:

Shuffling back to the hotel, I stopped in a Japanese grocery on Robson Street. Its offerings included a bookshelf of paperbacks -- all in Japanese except for a worn copy of Hedda Gabler:
