art supplies!

I spent the first part of today at Art Camp, and the highlight for me was an impromptu session led by Amanda Micheletto-Blouin, the manager of Jerry's Artarama.

She brought lots of supplies and tools to try out, including:

disposable palettes
water-soluble graphite pencils (6B, 4B, HB)
jumbo jet-black oil pencils
4-in-1 erasers
liquid pencil (two types: rewettable and permanent. Colors included gray, siena, blue, yellow, and red). I found the permanent difficult to work with, but especially liked the rewettable blue)
Soho studio wipes -- can remove dried acrylic from brushes
water-mixable oils (Lukas Berlin, I think) - red, brown, yellow, blue, and black

We tested the graphites and oils on three different surfaces: watercolor paper (approximately 90- or 100-pound); canvas paper; and canvas:

There was also a nifty travel container that held oil paint solvent, with an interior pot that helps with both cleaning brushes and separating paint out of the solvent:

Supplies! Eeee!
