Well. Straining a calf muscle wasn't in the plan, nor was shaking my head at [c] or kicking myself for [d] or worrying about the dog. But there have been some fun and fine things, too, including...

  • receiving more birthday cards and greetings.


  • winning the Pro Pelican Madrid bracket, in large part because I picked both underdogs to win their semifinals...


  • ... making it my second win this year and my fifth in three. It's especially sweet (so to speak) in light of how much I've had to dial back in tennis-watching.


  • I was able to walk to the library earlier tonight...


  • ... which led me to the copy of The French Ribbon on the New Books Shelves. Oh la la!


  • The latest issue of Galatea Resurrects includes "A Bronze Waltz" and "Visibly Part of a Ghost Effect," two found poems in response to Michelle Naka Pierce and Sue Hammond West's She: A Blueprint.
